Elephant’s Eye Hike

Silvermine Nature Reserve has several hikes that one can take, either from the entrance at Gate 2, or at the entrance where you need to pay an entrance fee, which is on the Dam side.

Elephant’s Eye is situated on the side of Silvermine where the large dam is located, and it’s an easy hike from the car park, even for those who are unfit or inexperienced. Signage at the car park will point you in the right direction. It is a great hike for families and fur-kids!

Please keep in mind that there is no shade for the duration of the hike (about 30 – 50 min one way), so ensure not to forget sun protection.

I personally love to enjoy either a dip in the dam after the hike, or enjoy a picnic in the pristine natural surroundings. The area is teeming with bird life.
